Mixed reactions and widespread confusion have greeted online rumours alleging that Wunmi, the widow of late singer Mohbad, has given birth two years after his death.
Social media users have been reacting to claims circulating online that Wunmi recently welcomed a baby with another man. The speculation surfaced barely a month after Mohbad’s family reportedly barred her from using their surname.
The rumour, which originated on X (formerly Twitter), quickly went viral and sparked controversy, with many Nigerians questioning its credibility, given that Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, and his remains are reportedly still in the morgue.
The claims have also reignited calls for a DNA test on Mohbad’s son, Liam, who was just five months old at the time of the singer’s death. Following the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing and allegations of infidelity leveled against Wunmi, the late singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, had previously demanded a DNA test to confirm the child’s paternity.
Reacting to the rumours, actor Stanley Ontop posted sarcastically on Instagram, expressing shock over the claim and making light of the situation while congratulating Wunmi.
Other social media users also weighed in. While some criticized Wunmi harshly amid the ongoing DNA controversy, others argued that she had the right to move on with her life, regardless of unresolved family disputes.
Meanwhile, some users urged caution, suggesting the story could be false and possibly fabricated to generate online engagement, noting the frequency of misinformation on social media platforms.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding the claims, leaving the public divided over the authenticity of the reports.
