The Ghanaian government has deported at least 42 Nigerians from the Ashanti Region following court convictions for prostitution, fraud, and other related offences.

The disclosure was made by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, via his social media platforms.

He added that other foreign nationals affected by the deportation include 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe nationals, and seven Beninese.

According to Amoakohene, a total of 68 foreign nationals were returned to their home countries after various court rulings connected to Q-Net activities, prostitution, and other criminal acts.

“I commend the Ghana Immigration Service for its professionalism, diligence, and firm commitment to enforcing our immigration laws while upholding due process and human dignity. Their collaboration with the courts and other security agencies continues to enhance public safety, protect vulnerable persons, and maintain law and order in the region,” he stated.

The deportation of the Nigerians comes amid increasing reports of heightened scrutiny and mass arrests of Nigerians in several foreign countries.
