TikTok content creator known as Tea Tyme has been arrested nearly two months after she allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian while livestreaming as she drove.
The influencer, whose real name is Tynesha McCarty-Wroten, was taken into custody on Christmas Eve in Zion, police confirmed. She was charged with two felonies: reckless homicide and aggravated use of communications resulting in death.
Authorities said the charges are linked to an incident that occurred on November 3 in a suburb north of Chicago, United States. Investigators allege that McCarty-Wroten was livestreaming while driving when she hit a 59-year-old pedestrian, Darren Lucas, as he crossed an intersection.
Footage from the livestream, which later circulated online, reportedly captured the moment of the collision. The video includes the sound of the impact, followed by McCarty-Wroten reacting in shock before the livestream abruptly ended. A child’s voice was also reportedly heard moments earlier asking what had happened.
Police said McCarty-Wroten immediately contacted emergency services after the incident and remained at the scene, cooperating with officers. Lucas was rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries.
The Zion Police Department confirmed the arrest but has not released additional details about the ongoing investigation.
