The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has vowed not to allow himself to be politically sidelined in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Saturday during a thank-you visit to Okrika as part of his tour of local governments in the state, Wike said repeating past mistakes in the governorship process would amount to political self-destruction, a situation he is determined to avoid.
He reiterated his long-held position that agreements reached on the governorship issue must be honoured, stressing that “agreement is agreement.”
According to the minister, there is no turning back on his support for President Bola Tinubu, but the same cannot be said for others who, he warned, are not aligned with his political direction.
“If we make the same mistake again, they will bury themselves politically. I will not allow myself to be buried. I will not repeat that mistake,” Wike said.
He further assured his supporters that he remains firmly within the “Renewed Hope” political family, warning that anyone outside the fold—whether fake or not an original member—should be prepared for a political contest.
“Let no one trouble themselves; we will do what we know how to do. They have not seen anything yet. By the time we are done, they had better go and rest,” he added.
