Kaduna Community Disputes Army’s Claim of Rescuing Abducted Worshippers

The Kuturmi Unity Development Association (KUDA) has rejected claims that 31 worshippers abducted during an Easter service attack in Ariko, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been rescued by the Nigerian Army.

Gunmen had stormed the community in the early hours of Easter Sunday, attacking two churches, killing several worshippers, and abducting others.

While the Army announced that troops had successfully rescued 31 victims and recovered five bodies, KUDA described the report as false and misleading.

In a statement issued by its president, Joseph David Ariko, the association insisted that all abducted individuals are still in captivity.

KUDA stated that families and representatives of the victims remain in contact with the abductors, who confirmed that the victims are currently at their camp—contradicting reports of any rescue operation.

Although the group acknowledged ongoing efforts by security agencies to tackle insecurity, it warned that inaccurate information could cause confusion, create false hope for families, and weaken public trust in official statements.

The association urged authorities, including the Nigerian Army, to ensure that only verified information is shared, especially on sensitive matters involving lives.

KUDA emphasized that securing the safe and unconditional release of the victims remains the top priority, while assuring the public that updates will be provided as credible information becomes available.
