Segun Aina Assumes Office as Youngest-Ever JAMB Registrar

Professor Segun Aina has officially taken over as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), becoming the youngest person to head the examination body.

Aina assumed office on Friday at JAMB's headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose 10-year tenure ended on July 31, 2026.

President Bola Tinubu approved Aina's appointment in May when he was 39 years old, making history as JAMB's youngest registrar. The computer engineering professor was praised for his expertise in digital infrastructure, national examination systems and public-sector reforms.

In his inaugural address, Aina pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor by strengthening JAMB's integrity through greater investment in modern technology and innovation.

He also vowed to intensify efforts against examination malpractice, warning offenders to abandon the practice while promising closer collaboration with security agencies to safeguard the credibility of the nation's admission process.
